Middleton is home to a nationally-recognized community trail system. Hike and bike through charming neighborhoods, beautiful parks and the pristine Pheasant Branch Conservancy. Ponds, wetlands and waterways along the route provide excellent opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. During the winter, several Middleton trails offer cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Nearby Governor Nelson State Park has more than 8 miles of trails for hiking. During the winter, trails convert to cross-country skiing trails.
